An entrepreneur who has figured it out
I had the pleasure of meeting the principal of Petit Fours the yesterday. What a great concept these people have and I really hope they succeed.
I stopped in the store to wait for my daughter to be dropped off at her local high school (she is in DISD's Arts Magnet Ballet Program), and started a conversation with Carolyn Key. What a great concept, business plan and expectations. Petit Fours is a purveyor of super desserts for people who are entertaining.
So why am I writing about this here. Well here is the most important part. ... (drum roll) she could articulate her plan in under 90 seconds, clearly, concisely and with great enthusiasm. She truly was the walking talking and breathing commercial for herself and the business she is trying to grow. She understood the product, the concept, and what she was selling.
Oh, to me she was not selling cakes at that point,(I had already finished my transaction) she was selling herself and her idea of just what she wanted to do and how she wanted to grow the business.
I think we all need to take a lesson from her. This lady has cracked the code about what she wanted to do, why she wanted to it, and her ability to transition from what she was doing to doing this whole new thing. Wow.
This is not meant to be a commercial for her... but stop in get a cup of coffee or something and ask her why she is in this business. I think you will get a lesson on how all of us should be approaching our job search. See my blog for her business card
